stunt double

i’ve been doing a little internet shopping for a stunt double for the bird’s “goggy.” the problem is, i’m having trouble accurately comparing our goggy, who has aged rather prematurely, with the shiny new versions sold in stores. what do you think…am i on the right track?

what’s that, you ask? what precipitated this urgent need to have an extra goggy on hand?

my husband went running today with the bird in the jog stroller. at mile three, he realized that goggy had jumped ship. in half the time it took to cover the three miles the first time, their little entourage backtracked and found goggy a mile from home, on the side of the road, and face down in some grass. from the look of crazed panic on my husband’s face after the run, i knew that it was time to line up an understudy.

I think Roger and Jill have been through the same process looking for another Buba. You might ask them.

They have a great story about Buba ‘s being locked in the neighbor’s house at 10:00 PM. I think Drew waited outside the house for a while for the return of the neighbors. I don’t think they ever found a good sub for Buba. Even on line.

We had a similar experience with Mr Bun when Wilkes was about 18mo…we now have new Bun, but he never wanted anything to do with him. It was the original or nothing.
There is hope – TK is still missing and Maggie just picked a new lovie and has moved on, not missing a beat!! Glad I didn’t spend $$$ bidding on the retired beanie baby replacement!

rinna still sleeps with her chestnut – the “guess how much i love you” bunny you gave her when she had her tonsils out – every night! she’d be LOST without him.

My daughter has examined and systematically dismissed every double we have tried for her beloved rabbit lovey. One was “too yehyoh” (yellow), one was “too puffy,” and one did not feel right when she rubbed him under his little rabbit chin. I advise all parents of newborns to procure at least three different copies of the same lovey, and to rotate them often so all will be acceptable to the child! Wish we’d done that!

We had some issues with two worn out babies, and wound up not only getting an understudy, but getting about five understudies for Christmas. the beauty of that is with so many, the kiddo couldn’t tell which ones were the important one, nor remember exactly how many there were supposed to be. It helped a lot. She’s still baby-attached, but it doesn’t really matter which one, or how many.

We’ve got three Harry Elephantes in rotation (actually he’s in bed with all three right now, so rotation is a bit of a stretch).
